VACALA MAKES STRIDES IN RALLYX NORDIC SERIES DEBUT
NYSUM, DENMARK (MAY 10, 2021) - Rounds 1 & 2 kicked off the RallyX Nordic Series in Denmark. American racer, Lane Vacala, was excited to campaign his MCAA Supercar Lites with Selection to Success Rallycross (STSRX). This will be his first season in the RallyX Nordic series traveling across Europe.
On May 1st, Vacala and STSRX got off to a hot start winning their Q2 Heat. He was able to show good speed, but soon little mistakes started to hinder their results. Unfortunately, Vacala missed the Main Heat by one spot.
The next day, Round 2, brought Vacala another solid day of racing. However, in Q3 the rear drive on his MCAA Ford Fiesta broke crawling across the finish line with only front wheel drive. Despite the issues, Vacala and the team were able to advance to the semi-finals. However, due to starting at the rear of the field, mud and dirt covered the windshield causing limited visibility and Vacala was unable to advance.
“Overall, we didn't get a result but there are a lot of positive takeaways. We adapted to a new track very quickly and had great pace from the start. We made huge strides since our last showing so things are looking up.” said Vacala. “ I just need to minimize the mistakes and we’ll be able to show some more fight”.
Sandra Hultgren, owner of STSRX, believes she has a great combination of drivers this year. “Both Lane (Vacala) and Simon (Olofsson) have done major work. Simon managed to be the fastest driver during all his runs which is a great guideline for Lane. Sharing data in between the drivers is really a great way of passing on information to improve for the upcoming run.”
Hultgren has great ambition for her team this year in the series, “I have high hopes to be the best Supercar Lite team in the Nodric series with strong drivers.” As she went on about Vacala, “There is no doubt that Lane could be in the top spots, showcasing his fast "free lap times'' when he is not in traffic.”
Currently, Vacala sits 10th out of 18 in the championship standings after the first weekend of racing. He will be missing the rounds three & four at Holjes in Sweden, but looks to come back much stronger at the rounds five & six in Finland.
